My children were taken by the foster care, I was all alone in the street. The day i shamefully walked into an old school mate who introduced me to Daisy Maureen. At first I told her that I am not ready to take any risk of requesting a loan online anymore, but she assured me that I will receive my loan from them. On a second thought, due to my homelessness I had to take a trial and applied for the loan, luckily for me I received a loan of $80,000.00 from Mr, Benjamin. I'm happy I took the risk and applied for the loan. My kids have been given back to me and now I own a home and a business of my own. All thanks and gratitude goes to Le_Meridian Funding Service and for the help of Mr, Benjamin for giving me a meaning to life when i had lost all hope. I'm...Hi Ed and thanks for asking that question. I'm just writing a "pros & cons" aricle of the lathe, so be sure to check it out in a couple of days ;)

One thing I just figured out is that the usual SIEG measurement report paper was either missing or not included at all. But no problems, I had a dial test indicator in my measuring tools so I used that to check spindle accuracy only.

I chucked up a 10 mm hardened and ground pin in the 3-jaw chuck and measured 50 mm from the jaws. I took three measurements, each with different keyhole used to tighten the jaws. One jaw clearly indicated the best condition, total indicated runout (TIR) was only 0.03 mm. Very good for a cheap 3-jaw chuck.

The spindle MT3 bore showed TIR of 0.005 mm or less, so the spindle has good bearings and a bore that runs true to them. Basically this kind of measurement means zero, as the measured value is not accurate.

The spindle index for the chuck showed the same, TIR of 0.005 mm or less.

The spindle face showed a TIR of 0.01 mm or under.

The surfaces were a little bit oily, as I only wiped them with paper towel and my fingers.

Overall the build quality is definately there and muc better than the previous C2 lathe, in more ways than I can count :)

If I'm asked, this is a good machine for a hobbyist or a small scale user.Jaakko Fagerlundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05812912968835218076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912562509558843157.post-22320254149505210172010-12-27T15:39:01.373+02:002010-12-27T15:39:01.373+02:00Jaako,
could you please report the out-of-the-box ...Jaako,
could you please report the out-of-the-box accuracy/runout on this machine? I am in the process of a possible upgrade of my own lathe, and this seems a good candidate. Overall, does it seem like the same quality as your previous Sieg, or something better?

Brgds,
EdAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
